Position Summary

This position will report to the Group General Counsel, providing sophisticated legal and strategic advice to the Asia Pacific (APAC) Senior Vice President and to other high-level senior managers of the Company.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and advice on all significant commercial activities in the APAC region to shape, foster, and preserve the Company’s business plans and strategy.
  • Accountable for developing, adapting, and executing legal and commercial strategies to achieve key business and financial objectives.
  • Negotiates or provides negotiation support for all major commercial transactions, strategically important sales efforts, and significant commercial disputes.
  • Oversees and sets all litigation strategy and key settlement negotiations, often as the lead negotiator.
  •  Provides business and legal judgment on the advisability of defending or prosecuting lawsuits.
  • Leads significant engagements with governmental and diplomatic entities on a wide variety of subject matter, including environmental and labor law issues, airworthiness and liability issues, and other industry-wide concerns. 
  • Engages with airport authorities and environmental organizations on large-scale FBO expansion and bidding initiatives.
  • With the aid of outside counsel, provides legal counsel on all APAC regional employment issues,
  • Leads all legal diligence activities and negotiations and shapes acquisition/divestiture strategy as a core and guiding member of Jet Aviation’s Merger & Acquisition team. 
  • As the Senior Regional legal support function leader, guides interactions between Jet Aviation and the Company’s parent, General Dynamics, with respect to its internal and external audit functions. 
  • Facilitates the resolution of Compliance matters with Jet Aviation’s Global Compliance organization.
  • Assist the business in implementing common sense and scalable policies and procedures.
  • Leads, mentors, and manages direct reports located in the APAC region.
  • Seeks alignment and best practices with all members of the Jet Aviation legal team, including those in the U.S. and EMEA regions.

Minimum Requirements

  • A three-year Juris Doctorate degree, or APAC/European legal equivalent, from a well-regarded, accredited law school
  • A four-year Bachelor degree from a well-regarded, accredited college or university
  • Active member of a US Bar Association, or APAC/European equivalent, with the ability to practice law and argue cases in court
  • Minimum of 6+ years of high-stakes legal experience at a law firm or similar in-house role
  • Natural ability to easily engage with, and provide strategic advice to, the APAC Senior Vice President
  • Natural ability to lead, persuade, and inspire team members and colleagues
  • Exceptional litigation and/or negotiation skills
  • Ability to thrive in high pressure situations and to be commercially-oriented
  • The highest level of analytical skills and propensity to take a team-based approach
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-pace commercial environment.
  • Willingness to travel when needed to our various worldwide locations
  • Expertise in commercial transactions and related negotiations.
