Assistant General Counsel – APAC

Position Overview

Reporting to the Vice President & Associate General Counsel, APAC, the Assistant General Counsel will serve as a trusted legal advisor supporting Jet Aviation’s APAC operations.

This role will provide strategic and practical legal guidance across the region, with responsibility for commercial contracting, regulatory compliance, corporate governance, and legal capability development across Jet Aviation’s lines of business.

The successful candidate will partner closely with senior leadership and business stakeholders to identify and manage legal risks, support commercial objectives, and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.

 

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Legal Advisory & Leadership

  • Provide legal advice to the Associate General Counsel APAC, Regional Vice Presidents, General Managers, and other senior leaders across the business.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to identify legal risks and develop practical, commercially focused solutions.
  • Lead, mentor, and support contract stakeholders across the APAC region.
  • Contribute to strengthening legal capabilities and best practices across the organization.

Commercial Contracting

  • Draft, review, negotiate, and support the execution of commercial and government customer contracts across APAC.
  • Manage and advise on supplier and vendor agreements across multiple lines of business.
  • Provide legal and compliance support for the engagement of sales intermediaries.
  • Identify contractual risks and provide clear, practical recommendations to support business objectives.

Corporate Secretarial & Cross-Functional Support

  • Serve as the APAC legal interface with the Company Secretarial function for Jet Aviation’s APAC entities.
  • Work closely with the Regional CFO, Group Tax, Finance, and other relevant stakeholders on corporate governance and entity-related matters.
  • Provide legal coordination and support on matters involving tax, insurance, finance, and corporate affairs.

Compliance & Governance

  • Design and deliver targeted legal and compliance training for non-legal managers and commercial teams across APAC.
  • Provide guidance on company procedures and legal matters, including data privacy, labour and employment, in partnership with Human Resources.
  • Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of relevant policies, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Promote a strong culture of compliance, accountability, and sound legal risk management.

AI & Legal Technology

  • Champion the responsible and policy-compliant adoption of AI and legal technology within the legal function.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage technology to improve efficiency and effectiveness while ensuring alignment with company policies and requirements.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or equivalent four-year law degree from a recognised and accredited university.
  • Currently licensed or authorised to practise law and in good standing with the relevant legal authority. Eligibility to practise in Singapore is preferred. 
  • Minimum 8+ years of substantial legal experience, gained within a leading law firm and/or comparable in-house legal environment.
  • Proven expertise in commercial contract drafting, negotiation, and execution.
  • Working knowledge of APAC corporate secretarial, corporate governance, and company law requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in US English.
  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to translate complex legal issues into clear, practical business advice.
  • Willingness to travel across APAC and internationally as required.

 

Desired Experience & Characteristics

  • Previous in-house legal experience within business aviation, commercial aviation, aerospace, defence, or government services.
  • Experience with government contracting and related regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with, or a strong interest in, AI tools and technology within a corporate legal environment.
  • Exceptional negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented approach to complex legal and business challenges.
  • Ability to confidently advise and influence senior executives and business leaders.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to lead, persuade, and inspire.
