Your Opportunity

Be part of the King Air KA350 maintenance team based at Ohakea, New Zealand, that provides direct support to the Royal New Zealand Air Force Air CrewTraining Capability.

The AME reports to their Team Leader, or when required a supervising LAME Certifying Engineer for the performance of maintenance of the 42SQN King Air fleet, air and ground based training systems in compliance with Company, NZDF and CAA requirements. 

This Full-time position offers a minimum of a 40 hour working week with possible OT if the business requires. 

*Salary package of NZD $70,000-$85,000 p.a + Kiwi Saver + $2,500 Roster Allowance + 5-10% Eligibility Bonus

Your Responsibilites

  • Personnel:

  • Equipment, tools and material:
    • Ensure that for all maintenance activities only approved equipment, tools and material are used in accordance with the appropriate procedures.
    • Ensure that replacement or new items are requested and managed in accordance with approved tooling procedures.
  • Management of Components:
    • Ensure components, parts and consumables used for maintenance are checked before use to verify suitability against the maintenance manual and parts catalogue.
  • Maintenance Data:
    • Ensure maintenance data used for tasks is at the latest revision status and is readily accessible, and any concerns on validity or accessibility are raised with the Team Leader.
  • Maintenance Planning, Conduct and Records:
    • Ensure that the recording of all maintenance activities is conducted to a high standard in compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Occurrence Reporting: 
    • Immediately report to the Team Leader any condition of the aircraft or component that has, or may, result in an unsafe condition that seriously hazards flight safety.
  • Safety and Quality:
    • Actively participate, comply and promote Jet Aviation WHS and Environment programs and Aviation Safety Management System.
    • Maintain high standards of hangar husbandry and proactively manage foreign object and debris.
    • Actively support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance JANZ procedures and working practices.
  • Facilities:
    • Monitor the working environment and facility conditions and raise any issues/concerns with your team leader.
  • Other Duties:
    • On request, and subject to being appropriately trained, support flight servicing training theory sessions and conduct practical training and the competency assessment of 42SQN aircrew and new maintenance staff.
    • Other duties as may be directed by your team leader in order to support operational outputs.

What will help you to Succeed?

  • A traineeship in an aviation technical trade with at least two years practical aviation experience, or a traineeship in an allied engineering trade (automotive, general or electronic engineering) with at least three years practical aviation experience.
  • Knowledge in the use of Computerised Management Programs.
  • knowledge of the Civil Aviation Act, Civil Aviation Rules and Advisory Circulars.
  • knowledge of the New Zealand Defence Aviation Regulations (desired).
  • Understanding of ISO9001.
  • Ability to work and interact with colleagues and departments throughout the organisation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and awareness of Microsoft Project.
