Position Summary
Based in Madrid, Spain, the Technical Author plays a key role in ensuring the delivery of aircraft manuals and high-quality technical documentation. This includes authoring and illustrating materials such as the Outfitting Maintenance Manual (OMM), Cabin Crew Manual (CCM), and safety cards. The role also involves describing component operations, testing, disassembly and assembly procedures, as well as performing checker functions and managing the full development cycle of technical documents.
This position is ideal for someone with a strong technical background and expertise in aircraft documentation standards, who enjoys translating complex engineering data into clear, accessible content. You will collaborate with engineers and cross-functional teams while continuing to develop your expertise in aerospace documentation tools and industry standards. Excellent English, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently are essential.
What you will do
- Ensure the delivery of aircraft manuals and technical documentation through authoring and/or illustrations related to the Outfitting Maintenance Manual (OMM), Cabin Crew Manual (CCM), and safety cards.
- Describe the operation of components, testing, disassembly and assembly procedures using installation and assembly drawings, test schedules, and other Jet Aviation specifications.
- Perform checker functions for technical documentation.
- Manage the full development cycle of technical documents as assigned.
- Update manuals for in-service aircraft as necessary, driven by new design changes or editorial corrections.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders across engineering and operations teams.
Who you are
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or other relevant accreditation.
- Previous experience as a Manuals & OSD Technician or in a manuals department.
- Expert in aircraft documentation: AMM, IPC, CAOM, MMEL, ICA, AFMS, etc.
- General knowledge of Aviation Regulations (EASA and/or FAA) beneficial.
- Excellent technical writing skills, including the ability to review peer documents for grammar, content, and style.
- Able to convey complex technical information into clear, easy-to-understand instructions using ASD Simplified Technical English (STE).
- Able to read, understand, and interpret engineering drawings and data.
- Familiar with OEM document library systems (e.g. MyBoeingFleet, AirbusWorld).
- Experience with Teamcenter, NX, Arbortext, and FrameMaker is advantageous.
- Proficient in fluent English, additional languages are a plus.
