Your Opportunity
The Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) in Avionics plays a critical role in ensuring the proper functioning, maintenance, and repair of avionics components and systems for one or more of the trade areas: Electronics (Radio & Autopilot systems); Instrument (Gyro, Indicating and Pitot Static systems); and Electrical (Battery Servicing).
This position involves working in a controlled laboratory style workshop environment, where the AME performs intricate diagnostics, repairs, and testing on avionics components. The Avionics AME collaborates with supervisors, maintenance support personnel, and other technicians and engineers to ensure avionics components are restored to optimal performance standards and contribute to the overall safety and efficiency of systems.
Annual Salary from AUD$78,064 TO $117,096 + Super + Bonus.
Your Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed diagnostic assessments of avionics components, identifying malfunctioning parts, electronic circuitry issues and out of tolerance results and readings.
- Execute repair procedures on faulty avionics equipment, including replacing unserviceable components down to PCB level, soldering, wiring, and reassembly.
- Utilise technical documentation, circuit diagrams, schematics, IPC’s and diagnostic tools to guide repairs accurately.
- Perform thorough functional testing and calibration of repaired avionics systems to ensure they meet OEM performance specifications and stringent industry standards.
- Utilise test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers, multimeters, signal generators and other specialised avionics test equipment.
- Document and maintain detailed records of test results, calibration data, and repair procedures.
- Adhere to established quality control processes and procedures to guarantee the reliability and accuracy of repaired avionics components.
- Monitor and maintain a clean and organised work environment to prevent foreign object damage, contamination, and to avoid damaging sensitive components.
- Create comprehensive reports outlining diagnostic findings, repair actions taken, parts and materials used, and test results obtained.
- Communicate regularly with supervisors, providing updates on repair progress, challenges, and potential improvements.
- Represent Jet Aviation as one company internally and externally with industry groups, regulatory bodies and the General Dynamics network.
- Other duties as may be directed from time-to-time to support operational and business success.
What will help you to Succeed
- Relevant trade qualification including but not limited to Certificate IV in Aeroskills (Avionics) or other relevant Electronics / Avionics field is preferred.
- Proven experience in component level repairs on electronic and electro-mechanical aeronautical product including soldering, testing, replacing and fault finding.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and solve technical problems.
- Exposure to avionics workshop environment.
- Demonstrated reliability with positive and proactive attitude.
- Well-developed trade knowledge in a high-quality customer focused commercial delivery environment.
- Computer literate at intermediate level preferably including enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Demonstrated understanding of aviation regulatory requirements for aircraft systems maintenance, industry standards and safety protocols.
- Strong understanding of avionics systems, electronic components, and circuitry.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers, multimeters, and other specialised avionics test equipment.
- Excellent soldering skills and ability to work with intricate components.
- Detail-oriented with exceptional problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills for collaboration and reporting.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, schematics, and engineering drawings.
- Familiarity with software tools used in avionics diagnostics and testing is a plus.
