This opportunity is ideal for a quality and safety professional who enjoys working closely with operational teams, driving compliance outcomes, supporting investigations, and contributing to continuous improvement in a regulated environment.

Reporting to the Manager Quality & Safety – Cairns Operations, you will play an important role in maintaining day-to-day Quality and Safety systems and processes across the site.

Your Responsibilities

  • Support systems and processes that maintain compliance with applicable regulatory frameworks, including CASA, DASA and Foreign NAAs, predominantly across Australian-based facilities.
  • Perform internal audits in line with site approvals and the APAC Baseline Audit Program, helping confirm compliance with both regulatory and internal requirements. 
  • Report on non-conformances, identify principal causes, and ensure approved corrective actions are tracked and implemented in a timely manner. 
  • Support the maintenance of Safety Management System (SMS) and Quality Management System (QMS) processes at site level.
  • Conduct investigations into local or minor incidents and occurrences, identify root causes and contributing factors, and support follow-up actions to prevent recurrence. 
  • Support approved supplier list maintenance and contribute to supplier quality monitoring activities. 
  • Assist with operational training and awareness initiatives, including toolbox talks and safety promotion activities. 
  • Liaise with site management and operational teams, represent the site at relevant forums when required, and provide updates on safety, quality and compliance trends and outcomes. 

What will help you too succeed

  • Relevant qualifications in Quality & Safety, together with at least 3 years’ experience.
  • Demonstrated success in quality and safety system management within aviation or a related industry context.
  • Lead Auditor capability, or the ability to become qualified, along with Aviation Safety Investigator training or the ability to obtain it. 
  • In-depth knowledge of CASA, DASA, Foreign NAAs and ISO 9001.
  • Experience with process improvement within a project management and engineering context will be highly regarded. 
  • Strong influencing, problem-solving and facilitation capability, combined with the confidence to work proactively in an operational environment. 
  • Excellent communication, organisation and stakeholder engagement skills, with high levels of accountability, initiative, integrity and confidentiality.
